Sabres beat Lightning in OOOOOOvertime…

Tampa Bay   1 0 2 0 3
Buffalo   0 0 3 1 4

The Sabres…this game will probably be forgotten when everything is said and done with the 2007-2008 season, but this game was the first time in a long time in which we saw Buffalo come from behind and snatch a victory from what looked like a loss for most of the game…this was a game where I was using naughty words throughout…then…the Sabres on the strength of 3 Thomas Vanek goals win the game in OT…awesome…there is blue and gold blood running through the hearts of these guys…Vanek has really come on as of late…no time like the present.

After vowing the Buffalo Sabres would make the playoffs, Thomas Vanek backed it up with a clutch performance.

Vanek scored three consecutive goals, including the winner 2:25 into overtime, in rallying the Sabres to a 4-3 win over the stunned Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday night.

“We need points and we got two points, that’s the most important part,” said Vanek. “It’s good to stop the losing streak at two and hopefully putting a streak the other way.”

Vanek was the star three days after he all but guaranteed the Sabres would make the playoffs following a dreadful weekend in which Buffalo lost back-to-back games: 4-1 against Pittsburgh on Sunday and 5-1 to the New York Rangers on Saturday.
