Yesterday I had a conversation with someone about City Honors School and the reconstruction of their complex on on the near East Side…I wondered why an athletic field was being built at City Honors to accomodate some of the sports programs at the school while Johnnie B. Wiley Stadium sits underutilized about a block or so away on Best Street.
Tonight I read on the Buffalo News website that “Johnnie B. Wiley gets new board and a new start.”
The article goes on to outline the improvements to be made to Johnnie B. Wiley and Buffalo Schools’ commitment to the project, but I am still wondering why the school district and City Honors didn’t factor in Johnnie B. Wiley into their reconstruction plans…it just makes sense that City Honors would utilize this field. Why build a new field and track when City Honors could play and support Wiley?
