Buffalo beats Tampa 4-1 as Briere nets 3

It was Dave Andreychuk night down in Tampa Bay this evening, but Daniel Briere stole the show by notching his first NHL hat trick as the Sabres beat the Lightning 4-1.

Daniel Briere needed 429 games for his first NHL hat trick. It was worth the wait.

Briere had three goals, including two during a three-goal first period, as the Eastern Conference-leading Buffalo Sabres beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 on Tuesday night.

“400 something games, I don’t know why,” Briere said. “I don’t know how to explain it. It’s a great feeling to finally get one.”

The Sabres have yet to lose back to back games this season.
